Tell us a bit about yourself:
I’ve been a stylist and a makeup artist in the fashion industry for 30 years. During that time I developed a love for color and learned exactly what women want in their beauty products! In 2017 I founded K. Ferrara Color, which offers nontoxic nail polish, along with everything else you need to create the perfect manicure. Our products steer clear of the harmful chemicals found in most other polish lines and they are also vegan and cruelty free!
Why did you start K.Ferrara Color?
I have always had a love and a bit of an obsession with nail polish! When I decided that I wanted to create a nail polish line of my own, I knew that I had to make it different. I created K.Ferrara Color to offer a carefully and passionately curated line of perfect colors for your nails - chic, contemporary, sophisticated, elegant, confidence-boosting colors, formulated to protect your health and empower you, as an essential finishing touch to your look.
What’s your favorite part of running K.Ferrara?
There are so many different parts of running K.Ferrara Color that I love!
I love picking out new colors to add to the collection, the creative aspects of our marketing and branding, and developing new products. My absolute favorite part though would have to be interacting and connecting with the K.Ferrara Color community and customers!
Where do you find your inspiration for colors and new products?
My inspiration for new colors and products comes from nature and from my background and experience in the fashion and commercial industries. I love posting our inspiration photos for new colors on Instagram to give customers insight into how I pick new colors - for example, see the inspiration for our new beautiful color Grace here!
What are some upcoming nail trends?
The biggest upcoming nail trend is creating healthy nails by using nontoxic, clean polish! People are really starting to look at the ingredients in their self-care products and make the switch to cleaner, healthier beauty brands. So many people are educating themselves and becoming more aware of what they’re ingesting and putting on their skin! How would you describe your style?
I would describe my style as casual chic. I like a neat and tidy style with more subtle colors. I am drawn to a classy look that takes minimal effort. I do like a splash of color now and then though. I just bought some orange shoes that I am loving for the summer!
What do you look for when you go shopping?
I look for classic pieces that I can wear forever as well as something a little funky to add in for some flair!
Do you like to follow trends or set your own path?
I absolutely like to set my own path. I love to look around and see what’s happening and then create my own take on it! Fashion is such a lovely way to express yourself!

I love the podcast, Obsessed with the Best with Alex and Tina. It’s 2 NYC-based best friends with creative careers that talk all about their new beauty and wellness obsessions and also have some incredible interviews with female-founders and experts! I’m always learning something new or finding something I want to try!
